    Abandonment charges in ga?
    I need some help PLEASE!

I got a divorce 3 years ago and have a child support order in place for my 2 children which my son his a special needs child with Autism...

I was afraid for almost 2 yrs to get child support enforcement involved when he started getting behind.. cause he had threaten to not paying anything if I did.. But I did get them involved cause I do need the support to make sure my son gets back and forth to therapy and school everyday.. They order him to pay $50 more a month to catch it up... now I think he has quit his job and I haven't received anything in over a month... He is behind now about $3500.. I know that doesn't seem like much to some but it's a lot to me when it takes everything to help my children especial my son special needs...
WHAT DO I DO? Can I file abandonment charges?
    HELP PLEASE!

Abandonment charges are not something you file. You can contact child support enforcement and try to get them to get after him harder.

THEY can use abandonment to pursue legal/criminal recourse if they feel it is warranted.

Since this is Georgia, they call it abandonment when a parent does not support their child. But whether its called abandonment or non support or a dead beat dad or whatever, it still amounts to the same thing. He is required to pay support if he doesn't then he could go to jail. Of course its not going to be easy to get support if he's in jail.

Your first step is to go to the agency charged with collecting support and enlist their aid in enforcing the support order.

Along with the advice dealing with the child support issues you are dealing with, not knowing any other information, have you researched other financial options which your son may qualify for? Particularly, SSI benefits. Provided is a link which may benefit you.

I have been calling Child support enforcement but they just keep saying they are limited in what they can do.. they say I can use other recouses but won't explain.. so I'm confused even more so after talking with them..

Last letter I got said they were giving him 60 days to reply and catch it up before the pull his drivers licenses.. THis will not effect him at all cause he doesn't have them anyway.. I have already lost my home and car due to this..
I have applied for SSI for my son and waiting approval.. I just feel like me and my kids have just become some paper work on someone's desk...
