I'm pretty sure my uncle is going to get murdered.
(I'm really not sure where to post this)

This is a copy of what I wrote to the police department looking for some help. But they haven't written back yet. Let me know what you think.

Okay, this is kind of weird.

Here is the situation, my 86 year old Uncle (well great uncle, grandma's brother) is marrying 45 year old woman, in 10 days. They have known each other for about 3 months, and she has only been in USA for about 4. Our family knows NOTHING about her and neither does my Uncle for that matter. But he is in early stages of dementia, so he is blind to the situation. After their wedding they are leaving the country for 6 months.

The woman lives in a gated community in the city, and works at a fast food restaurant... SHE IS A CASHIER! Man if I could be a cashier and live somewhere like that.. SIGN ME UP! She claims to have twins who are 21 years old. They visited my grandma's house and they are NOT twins. They are both are of different nationalities. (This could not be 100%, but it doesn't look right) & they were sitting MUCH too close, and walked out of my grandmas house 6-7 times through the 2 hours they were there. My sister is fluent in their language, and the girl kept saying to the boy "why arent you smiling"

We are afraid we will never see him again. What can we do about this? This is a serious topic in our family, and we are thinking about hiring a PI.

I know this sounds like a joke, but really its not.
I don't know what we can do..
& please don't answer if you are going to be rude. We are really worried and my parents don't know what to do.

Does this scream MSNBC to anyone else?

Here is an update as of 10 minutes ago. My dad has been trying to help out by having him sign a prenup and all that stuff. And for some reason my uncle thought it would be a good idea to tell her about it. So when he did, she took off the ring and threw it at him. So apparently he called up my dad and said that he isn't going to sign anything because he "doesnt want to lose her''

NOW what do we do? I was thinking about buying some sort of a gps tracker to put on his car so we will know where she lives. Then we can see if she is a LEGIT person. But I don't even know what to do anymore. They are getting married in 10 days. Then going out of the country. I have a feeling we will never see him again.

    Anything you guys suggest?

If I go and try to hire a P.I. or something, how do I let them know that we are not kidding. Every person we have told about it thinks we are overreacting. But that is NOT the case..

As far as money goes, my uncle has a lot of money. He has well over $500,000 in his savings, god only knows how much is in checking or whatever, & he has $30,000 CASH in his basement! Don't have a clue why you would have that kind of money laying around. But His wife died about 3 years ago, and they were money hoarders (not sure what you call them) they would share things off the dollar menu.

How rich is your uncle for starters? If he has lots of money then golddigger is what she is. Hire a PI to check out the situation. If he is in early dimentia then he can be quite easily led into doing anything that woman says.

And no, a PI will not think this is a joke. That's what they do for a living. Why would they even think you are making this up?

    Hi, bloxingham!

You've started two threads about the same thing.

Please confine information to one thread. Starting two threads about the same subject only causes confusion here.

    Thanks!

    Hiya bloxingham,

Don't know you or your case. But I have seen several attempts of this kind of scam, done by women originating from the third world against western men.

I'm not that sure that she's going to murder him, or hire someone to do so, unless she's been into such heavy crimes before, to some point. What I do think is sure is that she will scam the old man and get all his money and possessions. Probably she might want to wait him out, but could also try do it before he passes away.

What could be good to do is try talk him away from the whole thing.

If that does not succeed, see to it that you, or someone else of the family, who can be trusted with money, gets the full right to and control over all his funds, goods, house etc.

If you talk to the woman, ask short and concise, to the point and in-your-face questions, about her real intents. Also ask her to leave him if she proves not be deadly serious.

    Some advice.

    Best wishes.
