We are having the same problem. After reading your answer to the problem I have a question. We don't have vent pipes going up through the roof. We have some kind of pop off vent under the sink cabinets. Could these be bad, or is there some way of testing them? We live in the country and have a septic tank. Sometimes the smell is stronger after we take showers. Any help here? Thanks

Those "pop off vents" in the cabinets are AAVs ( Air Admittance Valve, see image) They take the place of the vents through your roof.
Smell around them for a odor and let me know if you can smell anything bad.
Do any of your traps gurgle at you when you drain? Let me know, Tom

No I can't zone in on the smell. It seams to be in the air in the bathroom and at that end of the house. The drains are running fine and don't make any gurgle sounds. The hot water heater is at that end of the home and is a electric one. Thanks

The first thing to suppect in the bathroom are the drains, (rotting hair) and the toilet,
( ruptured wax seal). You can sniff aroundthe drains but to check the wax seal the toilet must be pulled. Good luck, Tom

First I did the bleach thing on the shower and one sink, the smell disappeared for a couple of hours. Then it came back, then last night we did the other sink and the tub. The smell is still there but not as strong. Could it be that there is still something in the shower drain. Thanks
