    Fleas are loathesome creatures
For years now, three or four, our house been infested with fleas in the summer months. We've bombed and sprayed the house and treated the animals. We manage to kill them-so we think-but every year they come back. I always blamed it on the animals not being treated regularly. Then this year, we treated the animals every month and things have been good. Except this past month, a few days passed after the due date before our cat was treated and our dog still hasn't. However, she has barely been inside.

Yet I think I am seeing fleas! I am always the first to notice them-probably because I have developed a phobia about them-but my parents never believe me. Two or three nights ago I noticed something black on my bed. I touched it and it jumped. What else is black and hops? I manged to spray it with oust then pinch it with a tissue and kill the little bugger. Then tonight, while sitting out in the living room, I felt something on my foot. Sure enough, a little black bug was crawling on me. I flicked it off. Then a minute later I felt something on my ankle.

I don't see how it could be anything else, but what do you think? And what should we do when we've been treating the animals (other than treat our dog)? I can't stay here if they are back..

    Thank you in advance.

I did read it, but thank you.

It just seems like if we have been treating the animals, doing the right thing, except for a few short days-then we shouldn't be having this problem. Are we doomed to bomb and treat the house annually for the rest of our lives? That guy had neighbors living in the same house that brought the fleas with their dogs. It's just us here.

I don't even know for sure if that's what it is, but I don't see how it could be anything else. I'd rather combat the problem before it becomes a huge infestation, but if I am already seeing them, then it probably is pretty bad.:(

It definitely sounds like fleas, but it sounds as if you are getting them at the start of the infestation this time.

If you can figure out a way to stop stray cats, squirrels, mice, and neighbors from bringing you a flea or two every year (that each lay a couple of hundred eggs) then you and I can go into business. We'll make a mint.
