    Plumbing sewer vent
    I'm installing a sewer ejector pit in a basement and would like to know how to properly vent this after I get it outside,how far up and how far from windows ?

    The vent should go up and out the roof, so windows shouldn't be a concern. Height should be roughly 12 inches above roof penetration. Hope you weren't considering taking the vent out through an outside wall.

    HI all:

    Height that you are above roof will depend on where you live. In Florida, it's 6 inches. In MGD77's area it's 12". In my area it's between 18 and 24"... ;)

    Let us know if you need more about distances from windows, skylights, etc...

    Sections 1404.4 and .5 Of the Standard Plumbing Code, (Extensions Through Wall) allows you to extend vent terminals through a wall providing that,
    1- No vent terminal shall be located directly beneath any door, window or other ventilating opening of the building
    2- No vent shall be located within 10 feet horizontally of such a opening unless it's at least 2 feet above the top of such opening.It goes on to say, they shall be screened and shall not terminate under the overhang of the building. Bare in mind that the pit vent MUST be a dedicated vent and not revent back into existing house vents, As stated above the height of the vent above the roof will depend upon your climate and the Code you fall under.

    In addition to Tom's excellent answer: In my area, and under UPC, you also have to stay 10' away from skylights and other operable openings. As said, it has to terminate 12" above the roof.
