Bathroom sink is plugged
Hello,
I have dual bathroom sinks that are both plugged up, I have removed the P trap and cleaned both of them, next I tried inserting a snake but was only able to go about a foot. I'm thinking of using some type of liquid drain cleaner but have been told that is a bad idea, can anyone help? Thanks very much.

Don't use any cleaners. How big and what type of snake are you using?
You will hit an elbow inside the wall and a rotary drum type snake will get through with some turning/pushing. Power Drum Auger, 1/4" x 25' # 88250 by Cobra Manufacturing

This always works for me dump some baking soda and white vinager in your drain. Don't mix it before hand, pour baking soda first then follow with vinager

Not going to get far with the current snake you are using. I think you will be better off with something a little closer to bobs suggested snake.

Belle, I give that mix often for a clog, but a clogged trap not the pipe in the wall. That clog will be way too far for the mix to even tough. I also add an equal amount of table salt to the baking soda before addint vinegar, next day flush with a bucket of very hot water.
Darth, that should work but not as weel as my 25' drum auger.

First purchase a drum type snake,(see image)
Sounds to me like you have a partial clog in the horizontal drain in the wall. The solution would be to remove the traps "J" bend and send a snake up into the wall,(see image). There's a bend about 8 inches in but once around that you only have to put out 6 more feet of snake. Flush with a tub of hot water. Good luck and thank you for ratting my answer. Tom
