10 year old son with ADHD and anger
I need help! My son is 10 and is obsessed with what I do and who I talk to. He has no real friends because he doesn't know how to treat them. I have three sons and he is the middle child. The other two have friends who like them and they play with kids their age all the time. The middle child has ran his friends off and no one at school likes to be with him outside of school because he is not nice.
In the past 3 months it has became very noticeable and he has turned his frustration towards me. If anyone calls or comes over that doesn't have children his age he is mean to them. He told me today if I didn't live in this house he would be happy.
The older he gets the harder it is for me to arrange play dates. He wants to have friends but doesn't know how to get them or keep them.
His Dad works a lot and he spends most of his time with me.
My youngest son just started kindergarten this year and he has become increasingly more jealous of him.
He has ADHD and has always been difficult but lately he has become angry with any family member who has someone they are speaking to outside the home.
    What can I do?

I have a son with Asperger's who is 13 and has had severe anger issues. Anger is a SECONDARY emotion though. So what you need to do, probably through therapy with your son, is find out WHY he's so angry... what's REALLY bothering him? Perhaps the kids at school and even his siblings are being mean to him and leaving him out? Perhaps there is a secondary diagnosis here, such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder (which is very common) and needs to be treated separately. You need a child psychiatrist to help him with medication and therapy to help stabilize his moods, as he won't be able to stop this on his own. Only when he has medication will he be able to think clearly enough to figure out why he's so angry. Trust what I'm saying - I'm a mother of an Asperger's child which is very similar to ADHD. They "feel" a lot more than they can communicate to the outisde world. :) Good luck with this.
