    Southwind V fan light won't work.
    Hello, I recently purchased the Hampton Bay Southwind V Model 110 690 ceiling fan. I installed the fan according to the instructions, connecting the power to the receiver box, and the receiver box to the main fan unit, and the main fan unit to the lighting canopy. I turned the power back on and pulled the chain on the fan to test it out and it worked! I then went and grabbed a light bulb, screwed it in and noticed that the bulb didn't work. I tried pulling the chains, using the remote to increase the dimmer setting, but still couldn't get the light to come on. (The remote does work to turn the fan on however).

    I went and bought a new light bulb, tried screwing it in and still nothing. I got my two pronged tester, touched the back and the side of the socket and the LED light comes on telling me that there is indeed power to the socket, but when I screw the bulb in, still nothing. I have now noticed that pulling the chains does nothing, and that the only way to turn the fan on is by pushing the "low" or "med" button on the remote control ("high button does nothing either).

    When going back through the instructions to double check everything I noticed that there was a step I missed which told me to set the fan to it's highest setting, and the light to "on" before using the remote control. Is this my problem maybe? Could the remote control not be working correctly because I skipped this step, and now the fan light won't come on because I can't turn up the light dimmer setting with the remote and it is stuck on low?

    Is there any way to "reset" the receiver and remote control to start from scratch and set up the remote control properly? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Those chains can over ride the remote so yes you do set the fan and lights on high and let the remote do the work. However, if your tester says there is power there is but we don't know how much. Buy, borrow a meter that will show the actual voltage, about 120v . Verify that your bulb is good by scrweing it into another fixture.

    Confirm that both pullchains are set to high/on. Also, try holding down the light button on the remote.
