You need to set this in a context for us.
Are you using cat 5 for Ethernet wiring or phone block wiring? Cat 5 cable can contain 3 pair of conductors or four pair of conductors. Unused pairings are not connected. They are "Coiled" and left unattached.
The leads are twisted pairing:
Pair 1 - Blue/white (pin 4) - White/blue (pin 5).
Pair 2 - Orange/white(pin 6) - White/orange (pin 3).
Pair 3 - Green/white (pin 1) - White/green (pin 1).
Pair 4 - Brown/white (pin 8) - White/brown (pin 7).
Ethernet uses all four pairs and if you would like that breakdown, let me know.

Sorry, Mavon I did not see this post and answered your newest post.
To physically make the connection to an RJ11 plug, you will need either "Gas" pliers or a special pair of pliers that is designed for RJ11 and RJ45 plugs. You can find this in just about any hardware.
The tool itself will most likely be in the TV/Telephone and Networking areas.
It does several things for you, Strips the outer sheath off the cable. Cuts the cable to length. Also there is an insert (in the handle) for both the RJ11 and RJ45 plugs so that you can slide them in and pinch the tabs through the conductors in one operation.
For the Plug (male):
Slide each conductor (that you need to use) into the correct pin position (see my previous response). DO NOT STRIP THE INSULATION BACK ON THE CONDUCTORS. The connector pins puncture the insulation for you.
For the receptacle (female):
Determine the wiring in the wall. If it is two pair standard (red - green - yellow and black)
If that is what you have, then the pairing from the receptacle is as follows:
Pair 1 (Blue/White to Red - White Blue to Green).
Pair 2 (Orange/white to Yellow) - White/Orange to Black)
If you need any additional help, please let us know.

Mavon,
I'm sorry, I thought I answered that question. How many pairs are you using?
With the RJ 11 "Notches" facing down, starting from the left:
(Jack)
White/Green = pin #1 - T3
White/Orange = pin #2 - T2
Blue/White = pin #3 - R1
White/Blue = Pin #4 - T1
Orange/White = Pin #5 - R2
Green/White = Pin #6 - R3
