Cable size and length calculation for AMF Panel
    Dear Sir,

I am basically Electrical Engineer working as Trainee in a firm related to Diesel Generators and AMF Panel.
I want to learn to calculate the cable size and length if the KVA rating of AMF Panel is used.

Say we have AMF PANEL of 10KVA 3PH. And the Panel Size is (H)850mm X (L)550mm X (D)250mm.
Please tell me the procedure for calculating cable size and length required.(Both Power and Control). Is there any chart to refer? Kindly forward me the answer on my email id.

    Thanks

    Jayashree Raut :)

We donot know your email id. My id sathe1963gmail.
For 10 kva means 8 kw means current is around 16 amperes. Most suitable and reasonable cable size is 4 sq.mm. Copper (if length is more than 10 meters... you have to go for next higher size)

    For 10kva 3phase deisel genset with 0.8 Power factor=8Kw,so that total Ampere=Kw*1000/Voltage*1.73*PF

=8*1000/415*1.73*0.8=13.92Ampere.So that you can use 3and 1/2core 4sqmm cable .If the cable lenth is increase above 75 meter you shold use higher rating cables 6sqmm and 10sqmm.In case of any clarification you can contact meon the below mail >Email removed<
