Weatherproof fine wood indoor furniture for use outdoors
I have a carved wooden bed headboard/footboard that I would like to make into a park bench for outdoor use. Is there a product I can use to coat this wood to protect if from the outdoor elements. I do not know what kind of wood it is made of.

Thank you for your time.. .

    Hi, patricia1111!

Is the wood presently painted? Or, does it have some kind of clear finish on it? Also, do you know approximately when it was made, please?

    Thanks!

The headboard wood is not painted. It has a wood stain on it and some kind of shine finish. It is the typical kind of finish you would find on any piece of wood furniture showing the wood grain that you would see in any store today. I bought it in the mid 1980's. It is in perfect condition - as if I just bought it yesterday.
