    200 amp panel maybe not sufficient?
    Hello,
    I have about a 4000 sq ft house. The main panel is a two hundred amp panel. Coming off that are two 100 amp sub panels. Also are two 50 amp breakers for A/c and a 30 amp breaker for a air compressor. One of the sub panels has two smaller A/c running off it and about 1500 sq ft. addition (part of the 4000). The other sub panel runs the rest of the house and adding up all the breakers it comes out I think over 100 amps.
    Running off this sub panel is a double oven, dryer, and all the other bells and whistles of a house.
    My question is this: is 200 amp sufficient to run all that. I need to run two more 12-2 lines both dedicated for two microwaves I'm installing.

    The 200 amp service is new. So is the sub panel running the addition. The other sub panel is Stab-lok, which I think I should replace. Anyway any help will do. Thanks

    Adding up breaker values is NONSENSE.

    Only a load calculation can tell you what you need.

    Usually the max breaker you can put in a residential panel is about 100A.

    You can read the NEC online using the sticky. Click on Electrical & Lighting at the top of the page.

    I can ask the following: Has the main breaker popped yet? Has a sub-panel breaker popped yet?
