    Marriage to a soldier
Hello, my fiancé and I are planing to get married on October 9, 2009 at the Fort Knox Army Base. He is currently in Fort Knox attending his basic combat training. His graduation is on October 9, 2009 and our wedding follows that evening at a chapel on base.

I need to apply for a marriage license in KY where Fort Knox is located. The requirement is that BOTH the groom and bride are at the office to process through obtaining a marriage license, but we cannot do that because he is required to stay on base training until October 9, 2009. I was wondering if anyone has been in this situation with their fiancé, the army, and trying to obtain the license...
We would have applied for a license before he left, but it is only good for 30 days and he will end up being gone for 10 weeks.

Any advice/information would be greatly appreciated.

Contact Dependent Services at the base. I'll bet you a dollar they know precisely how to handle it and have done so a couple of hundred times this century.

Edit: Thank your fiance' for his service from an old sailor. And thank you for doing the harder job of waiting.
