    Family laws
    How many night legally can my father stay in me and my mothers house that we rent of the council. He is separated from my mother and has his own flat.

    You have to explain further, laura. Where are you from. Laws in countries may vary from where others live.

    Unless the local council (and you would need to check with them) has rules about the length of time overnight guests can stay there would be no rules on it.

    Local council sounds like the UK, ScottGem. That's why I was asking. UK laws vary so differently from ours over here. Was there any harm in asking further regarding this issue ?

    Yep, that's what I assumed (UK). And no, there was no harm in asking. But I felt I understood what she was dealing with enough to answer as I did.
