Water seeping from our shower wall
In our home, which was built in 1969, we have just recently had a new tub with a three piece surround installed. On the end next to the faucets, when you turn on the water, a very small stream of water will begin to run along the top of the tub and the bottom of the surround toward the outside of the tub and then IF we do not use a wash cloth to stop the water, it will run into the floor.
The man who installed our tub/shower said due to the "tilt" of our flooring, it was causing the water to do this. He even used a jack under our house to try to lift the flooring, but this did not help. Of course a water sealant was used to begin with and my husband removed it and applied a heavier sealant, which was of no good either. It appears to be coming from where the tub meets the surround. This is the only area that is doing this; the rest of the wall is just fine. Is there a way to stop this small stream of water? :confused: |

Where does the water originate from, is it just water splashing up or is it coming from behind the faucet somewhere sorry I'm just having a little trouble wrapping my head around exactly what's going on here. As far as the "tilt" of your floor sounds like the floor needed to be leveled before the tub install. Post back and well see what we can figure out. GOOD LUCK, AC |

Pull the escutcheon around the shower arm away from the wall. With a flashlight, look in the hole around the pipe to see if there is any sign of water. If you see no sign of water, you should have an access panel on the opposite side of the wall that the tub and shower valve is on. Remove the access panel and see if there is any sign of water there. It is not the tilt of the tub, it's a leak some where. |

Please allow me to make a correction. The water splashes off our bodies onto the surround above the faucets. This water trickles down onto the top of the tub and toward the outside of the tub where if it is not soaked up by a washcloth, it will run into the floor.
Our tub appears to be level, but yet, this is still happening. |

Sounds to me like the tub was improperly installed. No matter if the floor is unlevel, the tub should have been installed level. Unlevel floor is no excuse for new tub being unlevel. You don't just set a tub on the existing floor and call it good,, you level the tub. Sorry to say, but I don't have a quick easy sollution to your problem. Mygirls dad said it I bet even though it looks level its not. I can't think of a quick fix either but the tub installer blaming it on the tilt of the floor leads me to believe he already knows the tub insnt level and it just needs to be redone.
