    Replacing tub faucet spout
Going to replace tub spout since pullup diverter to shower works poorly. This is a slip on spout and my question is,
Should any caulk or other waterproofing be applied to the pipe before slipping on? The instructions don't address this but the home depot person made reference to caulking.
    Thanks, Ed Maas

Before you install a new tub spout check the pipe end that has no sharp edge remove if any, also use some silicone jell on the O-Ring, Thanks.

The person at Home Depot was probably referring to some caulk on the back of the spout where it fits against the wall. This would be a good idea.

Both great responses, caulk where the spout meets the wall but nothing other than silicon grease on the O ring and pipe.
