    Murry mower won't start
Well neither of my mowers are working my murry won't start I've tried first I tried jumping it thinking it was the battery then I tried jumping it by grounding cables and hitting the starter would turn over but nothing last I tried putting something metal acrossed the post of the Solenoid still turns over and nothing. It will not do anything when you turn the key and when I did every thing else it turned very slowly
    Can someone please help?

    Hi,
Deck is not on is it? I know it may seem a silly question, but the deck would drag everything down by load, it would have not fire because of safety swiches and the key would do nothing.
    Peace,

    Hi,
If the engine turns over slowly without anything loading it, one must follow a systematic progression to find the problem. Suspect the battery and/or its connectors. Testing and examination of those parts followed by testing the solenoid. Hooking a known voltage source to the system and jumpering from battery side of the solenoid to the trigger (test the solenoid ground if it is separate) and a good solenoid will trip. If that is the only way to trip it, the safety switches or ignition switch are suspect for that part of the circuit. Once you get good voltage (and amperage - the starter requires significant current) to the starter itself and it turns slowly, it can be the starter, the pinion, or the engine itself. There is often a cover over the pinion to visually examine it. The starter can be removed from the engine to test it. Eliminate or focus on the engine by removing the compression (remove plug) and turning it over. It should spin freely with a good starter and pinion.
It is a progression to troubleshoot an electrical system. Sometimes it will point directly at the problem; others, it sends you to an area; still others it only has a question that gives another, but it will lead to a solution.
    Peace,
    Clarke
