    Drain pipe broke at stan
    Drain pipe broke at stan ,threads are still in stan, how do I remove threads so I can replace pipe

    What materials are we dealing with here? Cast iron to copper? Cast iron to PVC plastic, etc... let me know.

    Most likely you will need to take a hacksaw blade and cut the old threads about 1/2 way through so that you cut the pipe threads but don't cut the fitting threads.

    You will do this twice about an inch apart... then you will take a small cold chisel (or flat screwdriver) and hammer and you will punch/cave in the threads in between the cuts. That make sense? Then you will collapse the remaining threads and they should loosen so you can easily back them out of the fitting.

    If this is a larger pipe size then you can use a sawzall with a bimetal blade to make the cuts but be clear that it is easy to go too far and damage the fitting.
