    windows won't start successfully
    my pc's window os don't start successfully after a change in hardware. The window did not start successfully after I did the ff;
    1. I have two PC.
    - PC 1 is 80gbyte hardisk drive, 1024mb (2 x 512mb) ddr 400mhz
    - PC 2 is 40gbyte hardisk drive, 256mb ddr 400mhz.
    2. I interchange hardisk of pc1 and pc2. So the 40gbyte hardisk of pc2 is now with pc1 and vice versa.
    3. I also took out 512mb ddr 400mhz of pc1 and add it on pc2. So pc1 is now reduced to 512mhz and pc2 is increased to 768mhz.

after restart, pc1 is operating well but pc2 os did not start successfully. Its says 'because of recent hardware change.'

    what should I do? Help

    thank you

My PC's Windows Operating System didn't start successfully after a change in hardware. The window did not start successfully after I did the "ff" (whatever that is).
    1. I have two PCs:
    - PC 1 is 80 gbyte hard disk drive, 1024mb (2 x 512mb) DDR 400mhz
    - PC 2 is 40 gbyte hard disk drive, 256mb DDR 400mhz.
    2. I interchanged the hard disks of PC1 and PC2. So the 40gbyte harddisk of PC2 is now with PC1 and vice versa.
    3. I also took out 512mb DDR 400mhz of pc1 and added it to PC2. So PC1 is now reduced to 512mhz and pc2 is increased to 768mhz.

After a restart, PC1 is operating well but the PC2 OS did not start successfully. Its says 'because of recent hardware change.'
This may be a Windows licensing issue. It could be a driver issue. It might be something in Windows that I'm not familiar with that prevents it from starting if too much hardware has changed.

Have you tried booting in Safe mode?

You may have to reinstall Windows from scratch, but don't do that now. Just post back and let me know if you tried it in safe mode.

So I assume you can't boot into safe mode. Is that correct?

So, let me make sure I understand. The only difference in PC2 from when it worked is that now it has a different hard drive. Is that correct?

I'm going to assume that there is something installed on the old system that is trying to load a driver or there's something in the new system that has no driver. In order to try to figure this out, I am going to suggest that you remove as many add-in cards as possible. If you're using a video card that's not built into the motherboard, you'll have to leave that there. Remove the sound card (unless it's tied into the MoBo). Try booting with as many of the add-in cards removed as possible.

If you still can't boot, then it's probably time to give up and reinstall the operating system from scratch.
