I want to change dentists after 21 years, I so wish I never went to them, I have 2 who are friends and one referred me to another. My teeth were fine and I believe now that it is too late and many missing teeth because they tried to prevent, that now not before, I would need the work, and would be richer and would not have had to go through these supposedly preventive measures that didn't work. I believe they BOTH ruined my teeth and cost me so much money and now they are saying there is nothing they can do. This is the 3rd time for an implant and was OK until the other doctor put the tooth on the abutment and I walked out of there and it was loose. When I went back for a filling the next week and I told him it was loose he said to wait it might settle and to see the other Dentist. He said it has to come out because it might bother the implant next to it, and they will have to figure what to do because the implant is just not taking to the bone. I do not want it to come out.
I had them for so long that I am afraid another dentist would not be able to figure what they did.
Please help me with any advice on what to do. I am in the Boston MA area.

Dude if the CROWN on the implant is loose it can be tightened... if the implant is loose in the bone it has to come out or it will get infected. Ask to see a Prosthodontist, who specializes in implants.. it will be pricey, but worth it. Also, keep good hygiene and don't smoke

I had an implant a number of years ago. It's kind of comical in a way.

First: A tooth came in roof of the mouth and extracted in grade school (4 in a hospital setting). This tramatized the tooth next to it and it decayed from the INSIDE OUT.

Had root canal. It failed.

Replaced with a Maryland bridge (cement on adjacent teeth).

It failed. Re-cemented. Failed again.

A grade school classmate who is a dentist and his father is a dentist suggested an Implant. My normal dentist didn't believe in them.

Get read the riot act at the oral surgeon's office.

Scheduled an appontment to have the screw placed.

ABout 3 months into the healing process, infection. Antibiotics for a week. Gums cut open. Irrigated. Different antibiotics for a week.

Healed up nicely and I had the healing screw placed and made an appointment with my classmate.

The gums grew over the screw, so back to the oral surgeon. He cut the gums again and installed another screw.

This time my classmate didn't have the right size screwdriver. Wait again.

He makes the restoration and sends it away and it has to be remade.

Then the screwdriver isn't long enough. My bicuspids are 14 mm long and he ordered a screwdriver for the rear teeth.

Wait again.

He finally installed the tooth and didn't check the side to side clearances, so it felt like I had braces for a year while the teeth shifted.

It's been fine for a large number of years.

The only issue is that I have to remind whomever is cleaning my teeth that the excess cement from the Maryland bridge won't come off.
