who said anything about the OP choosing anything as a career?.

anyway, back to trying to answer the question. If your friend is marrying an irish man who values his irish heritage and wants it to be a part of his wedding I'd suggest making him help in planning the wedding.

Hello,I'm irish, mostly I can tell you that an irish wedding consists of a church or civil ceremony,a reception that includes a meal, speeches etc, followed by a band and then a disco...
Now,if I was getting married in a different country it would make it special to have some connection to my country, even a small gesture like you giving a greeting to his family in gaelic (irish language) as a surprise for him, depending on where in ireland he is from you could get him a gift from his county, hurling is very popular game in ireland, maybe a jersey with his county colours as a gift from you?
Otherwise congrats on getting married, don't forget the wedding is just one day,it's the days after that, that count.

My Irish-American family always has bagpipes and drums come for a short performance during the reception which is very dramatic and has become a tradition in the family. We also have a tradition in which each bride carries the same Irish linen handkerchief, on which her name and wedding date is then embroidered (we are all on it) as her "something borrowed" and we carry an antique Irish coin for luck. Some have included Irish hymns and poems in the ceremony, or have bought unity candles imprinted with an Irish blessing. Perhaps the most authentic Irish addition to a wedding is genuine good cheer, a feeling of warmth and family, the inclusion of friends, great stories and toasts. Enjoy!
