    Mower is dead
Ok here is the thing I have posted before but nothing worked. I have a craftsman mower I got from my grandmother when she moved a week ago. It started and I got it on the trailer and took it home. After a new belt was put on it wouldn't crank. Since then it has a new starter, solenoid, ignition, and the safety for the seat has been bypassed just to see if that is what it was. NOTHING!! All the wires have been cleaned and we are absolutely stumped as to what it can be. Its down to the time with no more guessing games cause money is very tight and weeds getting very tall. Its model number is 28N707 and its type is 1173-E1. We checked the spark plug also and its got gas getting to it and all. So if anyone is really good with mowers and knows what's wrong please help us. Also, battery is fine was fully charged.

    ignition,
Is this the ignition switch or the ignition coil?

Do you actually have a spark on the plug? If not then ignition coil(s) is in order here.

Pull plug ground it and check for spark

    Define
After a new belt was put on it wouldn't crank
    .

My husband said its not going to spark because its not even trying to spin. And the belt is the one on top the deck for the blades to turn. My grandmother ran over a rug before she let us pick up the mower.

Is there power to the solenoid? Did you try to jump it. Basically its power to the ignition switch. That goes to the solenoid. From there it goes to the starter.

So test for 12 volts to the ignition switch for the battery feed to it.

Then turn the key/switch and test for 12 volts to the solenoid.

Test for 12 volts out the other post end of the solenoid.

    Now its to starter.

There could be a bad ground on the solenoid also.

The only other catalysts is the new belt installation is lacking a safety switch operating properly. If the rug caught in the blades messed up a switch then it would act dead in the water simply because a Mower nowadays needs to have the blade safety switch recognize the blades are not engaged to start the mower. The safety switch could be run to the solenoid or ignition coil.

I'd check the fuse too. I could be that simple.
