    Replaceing 3 speed ceiling fan switch
    We have replaced the 3 speed fan switch and now the fan doesn't work at all

    Brand and model would help. Did you use an OEM switch identical to the one that was bad?

    No I used a switch from home depot, which was identically marked as the oem and wired it exactly as the old one. L1 was red-2 was black-3 was blue- 4 was black. I do not know the make of the fan on the pull chain it said SMC

    You probably don't have the correct replacement switch. Use the old switch, match it up on CeilingFanParts.com Home

    And use these instructions:
