    Hardwood Flooring Edges
We are about to rip out carpet and install a few hundred (this round) ft2 of hardwood flooring.

What is considered the "correct" way to edge? Do we pull out the wood baseboards, install the floor under them and reinstall with or without 1/4 round? Do we just butt the flooring up to the existing baseboard and put in the 1/4 round?

Also, the hardwood we bought says it can be glued, nailed or float. We are installing on the second floor over a good plywood subfloor. Is nailing the best?

Thanks for the last minute advice and wish me luck. If this goes well, I have another 1500 ft2 to do. :)

I butted mine up to the baseboard and then put in l/4 round where there wasn't any. I didn't glue or nail, but it is a floating floor. I wish I had at least nailed or glued (it wasn't a requirement of the instructions). It doesn't matter now. I will be replacing it with slate shortly.

The ''correct'' way is to remove basebooard and install after floor. No 1/4 round needed.

    I would recommend nailing.

    Good luck

Hi, I'm having new laminate flloring installed. I didn't think that you should see slightly lifted adges at nearly all the plank to plank interfaces, but I see this at many spots. It's as if the laminate has buckled up just a little when they installed the pieces. I think that you have to put...
