Install Linkskys to connect two pcs
Can anyone detail the point to point hookup using a Linksys WRT54G2 to connect two computers side by side, wired, one old PC with XP and a new one with Vistas. Which outlet (cable) goes where. I have a spliter, and a Siemens 4100 DSL modem.
I am not techologicaly adept, so I need really easy to understand instructions.
    Thanks.
PS. Linskys tech support seemed not so knowledgeable and passed me on to an expense support site.

Should have come with a cd that will walk you through it with pictures

    Should not need the splitter

    Plug in router
    Connect internet cable to modem
-connect ethernet cable from modem to router (yellow Port)
-connect ethernet cable from each computer to open plug on router(blue)

That is the basic cable setup for your setup

From there you need to setup your networking through control panel on each PC and make sure you have your firewall exceptions to Allow File and Print Sharing
