Removal of IAC Valve on '99 Honda Civic VP?
I'm not too familiar with this part of my car since I have never had to maintenance this myself before. My car is idling very rough after not being driven on a regular basis for about 6 months. My mechanic says that I should try removing and cleaning the IAC Valve with throttle body cleaner. (I'd just take the car to the mechanic but he is backed up right now and can't get to my car for a couple weeks.) Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure where that is on my vehicle. I believe it is below the air filter housing, on the back side of the engine, possibly on the air intake manifold. Could someone please point me to a good diagram and give me good directions on how to remove this IAC Valve? Thank you in advance for your help!

P.S.- The VP model of the Civic mechanically is the exactly the same as the DX.

It should be located on the back of the plenum, fairly close to the firewall. Look for a hose going to and from the IACV. The IACV will be mounted with two 12mm bolts. This should help:

I'm not sure what the IACV looks like. Can someone please give me a diagram? I have read your posts TxGreaseMonkey prior to posting on this forum. It is all very helpful if you know what these parts look like. When you say "plenum" I'm not too sure what that means. If you could please be more detailed I's greatly appreciate it. As we speak I'm completely removing the air filter housing compartment so I can get a better look under it. Again, thank you in advance for your help.

Any of us, who work on car and trucks, should at least get a Haynes Manual. That's the best advice I can give you.

TxGreaseMonkey I DO have a Haynes manuel but it only tells me how to take out the IACV sensor and it does NOT have ampul pictures and instructions for the IACV removal. That is why I am here asking people for help. Well thank you for the advice that you have given me so far.
