You never knew you never knew.
I am not too sure if this is the right spot for this question, but I will give it a shot.

My best friend and I have been having this debate that has lasted over 2 years. It is litteraly silly, but a bit thought provoking.

One day we were watching Pocahuntas and the song Colors of The Wind was on. And in a part of the song she says " I will teach you things you never knew you never knew." And I think that that's impossible to never know something you never knew. I think that if you didn't know, then you never knew. I don't think you can never knew that you knew. And she thinks it is possible. I was just curious as to what other people would say about this.

Can you never knew you never knew?

I think there are many things that we have learned in our lives, or been told, but we store them up or forget we know, until one day the correct key to unlock the memory to that piece of information in our brain, becomes available and we realise that we knew that all the time.

If someone showed me something that I had never thought about I would then know something about something I never knew that I knew nothing about.

I.E. Two people from two different cultures don't know anything about the other culture.

If they explain things to each other then they would be showing each other things that the other never knew, probably because they had never thought about it or wondered about it.

" You never knew you never knew" would be regarded as a tautology in formal logic.
The information supplied in the subject is exactly the same information supplied in the predicate.

You never knew you never knew is a little bit like claiming that, "All green apples are green".
We are furnished with no new information about green apples, other than they green.

The same type of argument applies to, "You never knew you never knew," provides us with no additional worthwhile information. There is no hidden or deeper meaning, it is a self-evident truth.

It is possible. Has it ever once occurred to you that you didn't know the definition of hymen? If you have never once in your life thought about that possibility then you never knew that you never knew.

JudyKayTee, explain why you disagree with the validity of my statement? It's perfect logic, there are things that you aren't aware that you don't know, quit harassing me, Everybody else here who's responded to most of my posts have agreed with me. Do you not realize that what YOU are doing is trolling? I REALLY don't want to start a mess here so please just leave me alone.

I don't think I even understand your question...

She said she would teach him thinks he never knew.

If I dotn know something, that means I 'never knew' it.

But if YOU know it... you can teach it to me.

I don't understand your confusion. It seems very clear to me.

I think you guys are making too much out of the fact that she says it twice. It's a disney song for kids. They needed an extra few beats, so they said it twice. Songs reapeat words A lot. Almost EVERY song does it.
