    Settlement issue
    Hi Steve, thanks for the response. We were not legally separated. And yes, she passed in 09. We decided to part ways in October 2006. I went through US Family Advocates for my divorce. My case worker has not returned any of my calls in 2 weeks. The ex is currently in jail, he was sentenced to 9 months, should be out in October 09. I have all the paper work, howewver, they do not include court filing fees, which is $408.00

    So you are not legally separated? He may very well have a claim to your inheritance and settlement.

    I would strongly consider getting a private lawyer. This could get messy and expensive.

    Luckily, since he is in jail, he likely cannot afford a private lawyer.
