    Latent heat of ice
    Why is the latent heat of ice 2100J/kg and not 4200/kg

    336x103 J kg-1, Density of ice is 920 kg m-3

    The latent heat of ice is 2100 not 4200 because ice is not water. Due to its different state ice can more easily change tempreture and thus it can "take" less heat energy from, its surroundings before it changes state or tempreture.
