    Latent heat of ice
Why is the latent heat of ice 2100J/kg and not 4200/kg

    Latent heat of ice is:

    336x103 J kg-1, Density of ice is 920 kg m-3
    what are you asking?

The latent heat of ice is 2100 not 4200 because ice is not water. Due to its different state ice can more easily change tempreture and thus it can "take" less heat energy from, its surroundings before it changes state or tempreture.

Hi MoxyatStairwel! Welcome to AMHD! :)

If you noticed, that question is 2 years old. I doubt if it will be of any help to the original poster by now...
