    Shower's Attempt to Scald Me.
Hi everybody, I'm new here, so hopefully I'm doing this right.

For the past 3 years, I have lived in a 3rd story apartment style condo. And within those 3 years, I have had problems with the shower since the day I moved in.

The shower uses the standard two knob turning system for hot/cold water; but regardless of how I set the temperature the water continues to decide to adjust itself, and always to the warmer side.

It seems to be worse when I pull the tong to activate the shower, as a reasonable temperature coming out of the faucet becomes a scalding one coming out of the shower head.

Just today I had the cold water on full, and the warm water turned on just slightly and I was still getting too much warm water. I'm not committing to the idea of taking cold showers, so hopefully I can get this problem solved.

I've taken showers at various times throughout the day, afternoon, and evening yet the problem seems to remain the same.

Any thoughts on what may be causing the problem?

You should have an individual water heater in your condo. Once you find it, adjusting the water temp is fairly simple. It should have a plate on the side with a single screw holding it in. The temperature adjustment should be a screw right under the plate. On a gas unit I believe the temperature setting is toward the bottom near the pilot.

Cats had the right idea, let me take it farther. There will be two inspection plates on a electric water hearer with two screws securing each plate.
Shut the power off at the breaker box, open up both the top and bottom plates and adjust the temperature back to 120 degrees on the thermostats. . Close the plates and turn the power back on. If it's a gas heater get back to me. Good luck, tom

Jacuzzi Scald Valve - Water Not Hot Enough [ 4 Answers ]

I purchased a Ristorre Metallo shower system for my home bath and installed it this week. It appears to be a great system but I have one reservation. I can't seem to get the water hot enough. I enjoy a shower, maybe a little hotter than most, but the mixer valve appears to prevent the hotter...

Where is a scald guard located on a shower? [ 1 Answers ]

Can this shower be upgraded to anti-scald? [ 6 Answers ]

Scald Guard [ 1 Answers ]

I am completely remodeling a bathroom (new shower addition and new drain pipes) and opted for a two-handle shower setup. The inspector said that I need a scald guard on the valve, but this does not make sense. Since the temperature of the water is controlled by the position of each handle it...
