1989 Honda Civic intermittent stalling
I have a 89 Honda Civic and it runs great, than all of the sudden,it will just shut off. Sometime it will start right back up and sometimes I have to take off the cover that says DPFI and spray starting fluid in there and then the car will start back up. Sometimes right before shutting off it will act like it's running out of gas before it shuts off as well. The only code it is giving is a 16. I am not sure where to start. Please any help will be greatly appreciated!!

. Reset ECM by pulling the Backup Fuse, in the underhood fuse box, for 10 seconds.
. Start engine and allow it to idle.
. Listen to each fuel injector for a clicking sound. Use a mechanic's stethoscope of large-handle screwdriver.
. Disconnect the 2P connector from any injector that does not click.
. Measure resistance between the two injector terminals.
. Replace injectors that are not 10-13 ohms.

I tested the injectors it sounded like I heard clicking however after removing the 2p connectors the ohms are only 1.2 on the upper injector and 8.2 on the bottom injector.. Is that possible and the car still runs??

It's a question of how well it runs. I would replace them, based on throwing a Code 16 and the ohm results. Shop around for a deal.

Hello again, We are going to replace however a friend of ours has a 89 honda and we tested the injectors on that car (he is going from DPFI to MPFI) they are perfect!! What we need to know is how safely remove them from DPFI. They instructions you have I think are for MPFI. Thanks again!!
