Sorry Shaz, I missed it. I am just very leary of feeding Niki raw chicken from the supermarket. There are just too many cases of salmonella and cross contamination, which is also a risk for E-coli poisoning. Trust me, I know about that from personal experience. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks. and almost died because of it. They called my whole family in. So I just won't give it to Niki, just to err on the side of caution.

I understood that part, I just have some where in my brain that raw chicken was bad for any thing. So I needed to be sure. Soryy for the dumb question.

starbuck8 agrees: I just wouldn't chance it. I've seen how some of the big supermarket chains handle raw chicken. The bones may be fine, and if chicken breasts without bones, fine also, but I would never give my dog raw chicken unless it was a fresh farm chicken.
Edit:... just because now it sounds confusing the way I wrote it. "Cooked Chicken Breats", and "Raw Bones" (again, I wouldn't chance it!)

That's horrible starbuck :( I can understand your concern.
I buy my chicken direct from the factory, it's where the supermarkets get theirs from. I like using chicken, especially necks but it is just personal preference :)

Anything raw can potentially cause harm, but let's think of this from a "dog" perspective.
If your dog lived in the wild, would he/she be getting cooked meals? No.
I haven't ever given my dogs raw chicken either, just too ew for me, hate handling raw chicken, or anything raw for that matter. I'm surprised I'm not a vegetarian. I love meat, hate preparing it.
Having said that. If you trust the place you're getting your chicken from, then raw really isn't harmful to dogs.
I know, goes against everything we're taught, doesn't it? How many times have we told people or been told by others that chicken bones can kill dogs. Well, they can, but only if they're cooked. :)
Yup, all this stuff is stored in my poor brain. At least I've found a place to let it all out. ;)

Yep same here, I have all this info that I thought I would never use, not many of my work friends own animals and all my dog show friends already know everything so it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy when I can come on here and share my knowledge :)

Old? Run, run, run, you in big big twouble now, big twouble! Waaa! :(
I remember my first reddie, that was way back when, you could still give reddies just because you didn't agree, the post didn't have to be factually incorrect.
I had just joined, had a "discussion" with a bunch of guys on the site, not surprisingly we had different points of view on the subject. It was me and around 10 guys, and all of them where giving me reddies.
Now, if you know me, I fought back, and you, it wasn't looking good.
I actually left for 2 months after that, had enough, then I got an email asking me why I hadn't been around, so I came back and the rest is history.
Now I spend way too much time here, I may not have a life, this is concerning. ;)
Oh, I've also made hijacking a thread an art form, can't you tell. ;)
Going back into my corner now, before I get in trouble. :(

Right, go stand outside next to your mailbox and wait for the check.
It's right there with your t-shirt and toaster.

You would never get in trouble off me Alty :)
Even in a random discussion you usually have some very good pearls of wisdom to share.
And no you are not old, I was just being funny :p
The new system sounds a lot better than the old one!

[QUOTE=starbuck8 agrees: What about the official AMHD pregnancy kit, and my Dachshund breeding manual?![/QUOTE]
If there WERE a Dachshund breeding manual we'd be out of business!
