    Termination of parental rights
I am getting a divorce with a 1 1/2 child involved. I am a victim of domestic abuse in which that god my husband left (abadoned) us 6 months ago. I have not heard from him by any means since he left. I would like to know how I would be able to pursue taking his parental rights away. Do I have to have a lawyer or would I be able to do this. Her father is a mexican citizen and I am in fear he will one day turn up and try to steal her to take her to mexico. Please help. Thanks.

First it is unlikely you will get a court to grant a TPR. But the good news is you don't need one. All you need to do is request that you get SOLE LEGAL and PHYSICAL custody in the divorce. Ask that the ex get no visitation or no more than supervised visits.

    That's all you need.
