I'm a pathological liar.
I'm fourteen, I'm in year ten.
I'm a pathological liar.
I've been lying since I was eleven - nearly four years now. I've been lying since the first day of high school to impress people and to get friends but they weren't really good friends they only hanged around with me because my life was dramatic.
Or it seemed to be.
After awhile I had told so many lies people started to find out.. well only two. And they're still my friends but I finally told the truth to one of my friends and he promised to keep shtum and he didn't judge me.
That was on the 2nd February this year.
From that day I've vowed to never lie like that again.
I can't say I'll never lie again because everybody lies about little things like to skive off school or work, to get out of trouble etc.
But pathological lyring is something totally different - to call it a mental health problem scares the pants off me.
I'm still young and I feel so alone because nobody can help me.
I won't ever tell my parents they'll never understand and I know all the websites say to get professional health but I just can't.
Can anyone help me?

I don't understand why kids think that they can't share things with their parents. Talk to them. They WILL understand. That's what they do.

Just stop lying to make yourself look better eventually people might find out and it look really bad on you especially that you started high school if you lie and people find out that your fake it'll be really hard on you whatever you said let it be if it comes down to it just tell the truth I had an experiecnce like this with my girlfriend I told a lie before I was with her and it brought so many problems and the lie got so big I was scared to tell her that it was a lie cause it brought so many fights but the truth will make it all better

Hey,
I know the feeling. I'm one too and unlike you I've never told anyone. I was always to afraid too and too careful. But you should be proud of yourself but if I was you, which I wish I was, I would seek medical help like a therapists or something.. that's just me.

Well I can tell you one thing off the bat, you are very eloquent and well written.
Maybe that means you have a great imagination and with that there is drama!
Are you lying to create stories for fun or are you lying to make yourself look like someone you are not?
If that is the case ,just temper it or don't and be with people who are like minded.
Be who you are and you will attract like minded people, and that's who you want to be with after all.
I hate lying ,I am tell the truth all the way, sometimes it gets me in trouble but I can't help it .
Why are you lying, that's the bottom line .
Your smart ,I can see that so figure out what you think you are gaining by lying and once you understand your motivation you can begin to change it.
More information about what you lie about and why you lie would be helpful to better understand where you are coming from.

Hi Melrose... you have to tell a lie too cover a lie and also have a brilliant memory,I'm surprised that you haven't tripped yourself up.. although you do say a few of your friends have found out.
The friends you have now are really the friends of the person that they think you are,so it must be extremely hard work keeping up the pretence... why bother!
You need to come clean, clear the slate... so to speak,in which ever way you find easiest... NOT WITH ANOTHER LIE,I am sure there will be those who will totally understand and also those who may also be guilty themselves.
Once you are on an even keel with everyone else I am confident that you will acquire many more friends of true value who always wanted to be your friend but felt that they were out of your league.. these will be your true friends in every sense of the word... not the ones who will maybe walk away.. I wouldn't loose any sleep over them, you never know eventually they may come around to your way of thinking and join you.

Your parents absolutely knows this. For sure they've caught you lying so many times.
Start telling truth from today's date. I may be hard because you're not used to it but if you are start telling the truth now, the following days will be "days of truth".
When you're caught up in a situation like someone remember one of your lies on your face, just admit it apologize and promise you'll never do it again. Never reason out... just say you're lonely and you just want friends.
Be comfortable with your own skin. People will just either like you, love you, won't care about you or hate you. That's life. People who stay with you for who you are are the one's for treasure.
