I work at night on a computer, I have been at this job for 6 months now, for a couple weeks now I been having blurred vision and have difficulty looking at the papers and reading them ( I do data entry), I have to squint my eyes and I end up getting headaches and facial pain from doing this, does the computer damage your vision? I had a eye exam not too long ago, probably about 4 months ago, and I was just told I have eye allergies but I don't know if that has anything to do with it too?

Were you under neon lighting before this job? It could be the neon lighting and computer work. Make sure to take a break every hour or two and give your eyes a rest. Also, if you feel this is an issue go back to your eye doctor for a check up, they usually charge less for this than an actual exam.

I'm not sure what you mean by the neon lighting?

1. Constantly change your focus by looking near and far
2. Get a pair of "computer glasses" prescribed: Can be one pair with the focal length set to your normal working distance or a high bifocal. In the latter, which I own, You look up to see distant otherwise the correction is see to about 14". I think the normal close correction is about 10".

So, you have to measure the distance to your work and the computer monitor and the doc will use this to calculate a prescription.

Remember to get anti-glare if plastic lenses. UV if glass. Glass generally is clearer optically. Trivex is a high tech plastic that's pretty good, but it's not the normal material for plastic lenses.

Every 20 minutes look at something 20 minutes away for 20 seconds it relaxes the muscles in your eyes

Your problem is due to focusing at different distances which is straining your eyes (this is called accomodation) computer spex will help especially if you have the antiglare coating on them which filters out the blue ray of the artificial lighting whjich causes the tension headaches.

Oh yeah I def get the tension headaches, so I just go to an optical place to get these?
