Is the entire family invited?
My wife and I both teach public school. Recently, we received wedding invitations from two of our former students who were both friends with our entire family. Both invitations were addressed to Mr and Mrs John Doe and neither one mentioned our daughters. One of my daughters is away at college; the other is still in high school. The rsvp asks the number attending. Do we say 4 and include our daughters or 2 and not take them (both weddings are out of town).

I say don't take them so you and your wife have some fun time out of town.
By the way, welcome to AMHD. Have you made an introduction yet?

Welcome to AMHD!
Only you and your wife have been invited. The number attending from your household would be 2, 1, or 0.

I know when I was in High school and college when my parents got invites to weddings I knew I wouldn't be going. I would ask if I had to go but my mom said I didn't get invited. So I would assume that only Your wife and yourself are the only people invited. But I could be wrong.

If they intended to invite your daughters, they would have addressed the invitation to The Doe Family, not Mr. & Mrs. John Doe. If your daughters are not mentioned in the address, then they are not invited.

I agree, the invitation was just for two.

Jjwoodhall is correct. It was specifically addressed to just you and your wife. Otherwise it should have said, Mr. and Mrs. John Doe and family (etc.).
