    Yucky bath woes
When the washing machine drains, it backs up into the bathtub. Gross, gross, gross if you are having a bath. I tried a drain cleaner in both the tub drain and the washers drain with no results. I think that stuff works better on the commercials than in real life. Tried to snake the tub drain, but couldn't get snake through. Any suggestions that I can DYI?

    Hi Kim:

How did you try to snake the tub drain? Did you remove the faceplate and send a snake down the drain that way... see picture?

If not, then remove the face plate and the mechanism inside and send the snake down the drain. You will run into resistance after a couple feet, but just spin/push through the trap and the rest should go pretty easy.

While snaking the drain be sure to leave a few inches of water in the tub so that once you hit the clog you will know as the water begins to drain.

    Let us know...
