    99 Honda Accord stalling intermittently
My 1999 Honda Accord, 4 cylinder, automatic stops while I am driving. The fuel pump and filter have been checked, looks clean and fuel pump sounds fine. ICM, coil and battery connections have been replaced. We are now trouble shooting and thinking the problem has something to do with the emissions system. Do you have any suggestions for checking any other areas?

The main thing that happens is... I'm driving down the road and it just stops. I am constantly looking for a place to pull over IN CASE it stops so I have 1 to 2 minutes (sometimes longer) for it to start back up. When it first started happening it would start right back up now it takes longer. After the ICM was replaced I had trouble with it starting at all. That might have had something to do with a loose battery connection, not sure.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

If the ICM, coil, and fuel filter were new, I'd focus on the distributor housing. Wear eventually causes problems with the CKP, CYL, and TDC sensors. These internal sensors are not serviceable. If you replace the housing, only use Genuine Honda.

    Additional thoughts:

. Did you apply a thin, even coating of silicone heat transfer compound to the back of the new ICM? If you don't, they will quickly fail:

. Have you reset your ICM, by pulling the Backup Fuse, located in the underhood fuse box, for 10 seconds? Sometimes this corrects stalling problems.

    . Any codes?

. How old are your spark plugs? Only use the exact NGK plugs that came in the car.

If problem persists, check the ECT Sensor, located under the distributor.
