    Social Security Taxes
    Hello,

I am facing a major problem... I have been studying in the US since fall 2003 and started my Optional Practical Training in July 08. I told my employer that I did not need to pay social security taxed or Medicare since I was not a resident. However, by reading tax paperwork, I realized that I am now considered as a resident alien since September 08. Do you know how I could talk to Social Security SErvices to give them the money back...

    Thanks

You are exempt only from 2003 to 2007. From start of 2008, you must start paying SS tax and Medcare tax.
These taxes must be collected by the employer. To tell your employer.
Also make sure that for 2009, you pay these taxes.
