OK so I'll try to make this as short as possible, but lets start with some background. During my sophomore year of high school I met a girl in one of my classes who I thought was kind of cute. We talked for a while and through mutual friends went to parties etc. Over time I began to realize that she really liked me and while I kind of had feelings for her I was way to afraid to ask her out 1) because I was really shy and 2) because I didn't want to mess up our friendship. Time went on and we eventually grew apart as friends, dated, and left high school.

I've had plenty of relationships between the time I almost asked her out and now, and I feel like none have compared to this girl (even my current g/f). She has had a b/f for the past 3 years, and while they have had some trouble in the past he recently gave her a promise ring (promise for marriage after college).

I am in no way a stalker or anything like that but I regret asking this girl out all the time and when I think about her all I see is perfection. I would give anything to be her boyfriend but I don't want to tell her this because I am unsure she still has feelings for me and she is in a pretty serious relationship at the moment.

I don't want to let go but I feel like I have to... any thought?

Don't destroy her relationship for your own selfish purpose. She will not thank u for it.

The only reason she is perfect is cause u don't have her.

If u really love her and care about her, then let her be happy and butt out.

It feels like torture eh? I don't know the answer, but I can tell you that I am in a very similar situation. I wouldn't want anyone to feel the way that I do, it's extreme pain.

Everyone in this forum tells me to move on as well. My friends and I, on the other hand, feel that patience could be the key.

But we're really vulnerable to the girl right now and that's not good. We're going to have to work on ourselves first; thus, the implementation of the no contact rule.

Yeah, like I would say in most cases where people have a crush on or are in love with someone who is taken: time to move on.

And like someone has already said, no one is perfect... and I do believe that this is a case of; I want her because I CAN'T have her.

So do yourself a favor and let go.

I just noticed this now... you have a gf?

Why even bother if you are going to obsess over someone who is already taken?

You're ready to be there for her (and to be her knight in shining armor?) if her current relationship falls apart... but you want to let go. I think its good that you want to let go, otherwise you are just waiting around for a bunch of "what ifs" that may or may not happen... I'm glad you don't think she's perfect, but even though she is everything you look for... I don't know... is it worth wasting you time waiting to see if maybe she'll come around, maybe the boyf she has now breaks her heart, maybe she breaks his heart (and I can literally go on and on)

And what about the Gf you wrote about in the OP... is she just someone to pas the time on.

It seems as if you might need to sit yourself down and rethink this whole thing you have for this girl. Both the girlfriend and the girl of your dreams...

I do not mean to be harsh, but this is kind of unhealthy dude.

Ps: How serious are you with the GF?
