    Basement Plumbing
I am trying to install a basemnt shower, the builder said that it was plumbed for a full bath. The sink and toilet pipes I can see but there is a 12x12 6 inch deep hole in the floor under the concrete is there a drain pipe? If I break the floor open will I see a pipe ? The hole has wood surrounding it? I am not sure what to do?

How are you seeing this hole if concrete is there?
We don't have x ray eyes here sorry. A shower drain takes a 2" drain line and a tub is an 1 1/2" drain line. If its stubbed out for a bath with a 1 1'2 inch line then its not the ideal thing for a 2" shower drain.

Simply expose hole or the area you think the drain might bee there.

The hole is called a tub dap out but a shower may be installed in place of the tub. Dig up the hole and tell me what you find. There will be a drain pipe but there might also be a trap down there. Now, tell me what type of shower you're planning. Custom Tile or a manufactured base and enclosure? Will this be contracted out or will you be doing the work yourself? They do make a shower base to fit in a tub enclosure. (see image). What's your pleasure? Tom
