It could be that he has a belly ache. Is he vomiting any? Is he drinking? Is he eating at grass? Dogs often eat grass when they feel sick.

Healthy dogs do not need to eat every day.

Its summer time. Sometimes dogs don't eat a lot during the summer. Its too hot and eating food creates heat within the body.

Just keep an eye on him. If he acts lethargic, throws up yellowish bile then start talking to your vet. If his energy levels are still good and he eats every once in awhile I see nothing wrong with him.

Also, you could be feeding him a high calorie diet. If he is not exercised a lot and is eating the high cals, then his body is nutritionally satisfied for a period. Maybe up his exercise and see if that helps with him eating every time you give him a bowl of food.

Dogs don't need to be nit picked.. they know how to take care of themselves ;) Just find a good dog food that is within budge and keep to it. Changing foods around will cause stomach upset.
