    Heat pump thermostat
I have a single stage heat pump with an emergency electric furnace. I want to install a programmable thermostat. Do I have to have one that says that it will run on emergency heat?

You will need a thermostat that is 2 stage heating/1 stage cooling and heat pump compatible. Note the wire colors and terminal designations before disconnecting the old one.
