Replacing A/C Handler/Blower

When replacing above, does everything else have to be replaced such as the thermostat, inside blower, etc. I've been told that if you have different makes, it will not work properly and/or it will not be energy efficient and could make for higher bills... Fact or Fiction? Thankx.
Blower not working and blower running all the time

I have a Lennox electric furnace that's about 10 years old or so, the elements come on but no blower. There is a summer fan switch that will make the blower run when switched on, but it will not come on with a call for heat. Also at my work, there is a york gas pack that is probably 15 years old....

I have a Ducane furnace, model#CMPE075U3, for which I have to replace the blower motor only. I have taken off the 4 nuts which seem to hold it in place, but it won't pull out. Is there something in the back holding it on?

I just pulled out my old blower motor and am going to replace it. Do I have to match all the specs, i.e. must my new motor be 115v, 1phase, 1050rpm, 1/3hp, 9.9amps, 60hz.
