    Grandmas heart rate and bp low
    My grnadma is 63 and she went and took her blood pressure and it was 85 over 51 and her heart rate was only 59 is this normal? Or is it low and if it is was can cause it to be so low

    That's way too low. Normal BP is in the range of 120/80 with a pulse of about 80. Pulse can be a lot lower in athletes. There is also the possibility that the cuff wasn't placed quite right especially if not checking BP manually with a Stethescope and BP mater.

    If she takes BP medication, it may need to be adjusted.

    Not real sure if a trip to the ER is warranted, but you should call the physicians answering service to get an opinion.

    In any event, taking in fluids can help raise blood pressure.

    Yes it is far to low. I would have her call her doctors office and see if they need to her go to the ER.

    Has her BP medication been changed recently.
