    Insurance fraud
We had a house fire, after the landlord was informed, we were told that she had forgot to inform her insurance that the house was leased out. So she told them that we were visiting only. And wanted us to back up her story. We have a yr. lease and didn't back up her story. Now we are getting harassed by her and nothing has been done for us, the tenants. What should we do and how?

She lied and you didn't go along with it. She tried to collect from the insurance company and she got caught. She may just end up getting arrested for her efforts. You are living in a home that probably will never be properly repaired.

How did the fire start? How much damage are we talking here to the house?

And did you not have renter's insurance?

But if her insurance won't pay and she can't afford to come up with the money for repairs, you are in a pickle.

If the building is not livable, you may move ( notify the landlord that the home can not be lived in because of .1.2, 3 and so on

If you have renters insurance it should cover some of your losses

Also who or what caused the fire, since if for example you left something on the stove, the landlord can sue you for the entire loss.
