Hello P:
If they held a gun to your head and made you sign it, it can be voided. But, if you signed it for another reason, that you THINK is duress, it's not voidable.
Tell me what happened IN DETAIL.

Yes, Excon has an excellent point there. Just because you now don't think that signing a document was a good idea, unless you have a viable excuse that will hold up in a court of law, the document is legal.

I have the same question. My employer held my last paycheck (which he did not give me until FIVE days after I was supposed to get it: payday was on a Wednesday, I did not receive it until the following Tuesday and was unable to cash it until the Wednesday after that). He had his so-called lawyer have me sign a "release" in order to receive this paycheck. Basically, he held my last paycheck RANSOM until I signed this document stating that I would not sue them. Is this duress? Is it legal?

Can any one please answer this I purchased a car from some one and it was agreed that I would pay 156 payments at £130.00 and only the 156th payyment would make it mine. I was respomsable for all the repairs but had to have them done at his garage. I did fall behind due to ill health but he agreed to let me cary on under the lease purchase agrrement. H also said that I wojld be insured with his company and we would sort this out later. The total for just the car wouild have been £20,280.00 but even thought I can prove that I have paid that amount he will not give me the log book for that car as he say I have not paid anything off and I still owe him money for repairs and insurance even though that in the agreement I only says 156 payments of £130.00. I have asked him to ptovide me with a break down of what these extra costs are but he refuses to give me any despite a number of people asking for them. Plus only this year he had my car for repairs at his garage and told me that I owed him money and that if I was going to hold him to the original agreement I can f.. k off and said I had to sign another agremment for arrears other wise I was not gettng my car back . I did sign as my car is a taxi and my job I could not earn alinving if I did not agree. Dose any one know were I stand on this

I don't see a problem. You signed a contract and he is holding you to it. That's not duress. It's sticking to the letter of the contract.
