What do you do if a pharmacist divulges prescriptions you're taking to ones of her friends?

What reason did she have to give out the information? How did you find out that she told her friend what prescription(s) you're taking?

Her friend is my boyfriends ex-wife. I don't think she thought the ex would say anything.

You still haven't explained how you found out and why she told.

I found out from my boyfriend. Why you ask. I can't figure out why someone would do such a thing.

This is a HIPAA violation. If the pharmacist is not the store owner, then I would ask to speak to the store owner and advise him what happened.

If she is the store owner, then report to to HIPAA and let them handle it.

This is a clear and serious violation of HIPAA.

So the ex wife has no ties whatsoever to the pharmacy? She just happened to mention it to her? If that's the case, your pharmacist doesn't seem like the brightest bulb in the box...

The ex is best friends with the pharmacist. I guess they decided to dig a little.

It's a HIPAA violation - the Pharmacist can be fired, if you can prove your allegation.
