2001 Lexus 300RX Air Bag Warning Light
Since installing a new Navigation DVD into my car the Air Bag Warning Light keeps blinking on the dash. I tried taking the negative battery terminal off for 30 minutes and that seemed to work for about 2 days. Now it stays blinking. Any suggestions?

Have a scan done to determine which codes are stored in the computer and causing the light to come on.

It seems the Nav system installer may have inadvertently tapped into either the power supply or the ignition back-up for your factory SIR system.

    That's bad...

The install should be done by someone with knowledge and experience with today's complex electrical systems.

In today's vehicle's, if the wrong wire gets tapped for data... but it's a power circuit, every vehicle system could report a problem.

Don't let the wrong people work on your precious ride. Contact the people who built your car. They know your car, and they have the latest diagnostic information available. After all, they get input from every dealer, coast to coast.

We are living in different times, now.

Today, it seems far more important to take better care of our vehicles.
Find some one you can trust with your car.
You know somebody with a car, they can tell you about where they get their car worked on. Get the maintenance checked. See what's in store for your car's future. Know what to expect... at least a little.

It is a factory nav system I was just updating from the 2001 Map to 2007. Just installed the disk, no other work was done. Actually, that is not correct. When I had the oil changed the Negitave termanil broke off the battery cable and my mechanic replaced it. That is all that has been done.
Thanks for your imput and help.:)

Again, get a scan done to see which codes are stored. We had a Lincoln LS that had some bad wiring to the left side-mounted airbag. As soon as we got the code, we checked the seat and found the problem. The light went out and has stayed off to this day.

With the battery terminal having gotten knocked off, I'm guessing that the Nav system may need to be re-initialized after the power loss.
Installing an updated CD shouldn't cause these symptoms.
Do you have any other vehicle's systems not working properly?

No, all other systems are OK. I'll get a computer readout and post the codes.
    Thanks for everyone's help.:)
